Mike Botur, 41, is an award-winning short story writer and author of four novels, best known for Northland novel Glass Barbie (Lasavia Publishing, 2025). He is switched from writing literary fiction into horror in 2020.
He has been a Northland and Whangarei winner of regional flash fiction competitions numerous times and longlisted in NFFD several times.
Botur works primarily in the genre of horror and crime, has sold numerous stories to the Chilling Tales for Dark Nights podcast, and is this year a nominee in the Ngaio Marsh Crime Fiction Awards and the Sir Julius Vogel Awards for Horror Writing.
He is also an emerging screenwriter with two films in infant stages of development - ‘Shopleftin’ and ‘Bloodalcohol.’ He lives in Whangarei, Northland, and grew up in the malls of Christchurch.
He has won creative writing awards in three countries.
He enjoys long walks on the beach and has hooks for hands.
