Angus Gillies

Angus Gillies penned Ngati Dread, a non-fiction trilogy about the Ruatoria Rastafarians and their five-year battle with the establishment that included a series of arsons that hit farms and public buildings, clashes with police and the separate killing of three Rastas. He’s written several crime novels including The Lizard Song and biographies on sports stars Matthew Ridge, Adam Parore, Justin Marshall and Simon Mannering, as well as entertainer Sir John Rowles. He  worked as a journalist and producer for TV3 for 30 years and is still a producer on the nightly Three News programme.

Most recently he co-wrote Far North, a true crime tale which was also made into a six-part TV series starring Robyn Malcolm and Temuera Morrison.
