Dr Richard Ward

Dr Richard Ward retired as Chair of Literacy Education at the University of Waikato to live in Kerikeri and plant trees on his farm at Honeymoon Valley, Peria.

 

His publications include a wealth of writing about children's writing, including teacher resources (Dancing with the Pen; Readings About Writing), and education policy (Coping with Change). 

 

He has written articles about horticulture (firewood growing, macadamias, banana culture), novels (The History of Red Tractors; Rat Bait; Boomerang Bend) and random stories for children (Meg and the Reading Dog; You Need a Good Nose).

 

Most recently, he's written a booklet about people interred in St James Church Cemetery in Kerikeri.

 

Richard is very pleased to be part of the inaugural Readers Writers and Poets Festival.
